T1D Connections Spotlight: Schneider Family
in Awareness, Fundraising
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a 24/7 disease that has a global impact. Just in the United States alone, there are over 1.4 million people currently living with T1D. By joining the Breakthrough T1D family, you not only impact the Breakthrough T1D Kansas & Missouri chapter, but the millions of people living with T1D all over the world!
The Schneider Family is an amazing example of how your voice can make an impact only in your community, but also nation wide! T1D Champion, Brooklyn, and her mother, Michelle, recently traveled to New York City to speak at the 2nd Annual “Grassi Gives Back” kick off at the Grassi Headquarters. Michelle works remotely for Grassi and paired up with the Breakthrough T1D Greater New York City chapter to share their T1D story with Grassi and how they can get more involved with Breakthrough T1D.
Brooklyn & Michelle created a presentation that highlighted the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, shared incredible Breakthrough T1D advocacy and research updates, and also encouraged Grassi to get involved in the upcoming Breakthrough T1D One Walks! They even showed off their new Brooklyn’s Army One Walk t-shirt to kick start fundraising.
By speaking about T1D and Breakthrough T1D, Brooklyn & Michelle made several connections to others that have been affected by T1D all over the country. By sharing your Breakthrough T1D story, you can create connections and impact beyond your local community. T1D is everywhere and your voice makes a huge impact locally, nationally – even globally!
