MD Walk – Local Companies and Families Pull Out All the Stops
in General
Spring is finally here and a record number of participants joined us in breezy Baltimore for the 2014 Walk to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, April 5. The energy and enthusiasm was high in front of M&T Bank Stadium as over 3,500 people came together in support of one goal: to turn Type One into Type None. We are proud to say we have raised over $530,000 and counting which will go to fund research to prevent, better treat and cure type 1 diabetes.
The morning was kicked off by the JoeyDCares Rock Orchestra as participants visited with local vendors and enjoyed a variety of family activities. Gail Smith welcomed the crowd and announced our Top Teams for the event:
Family:
Bella’s Battalion
Team Severna Park
Katelyn’s Crusaders
Corporate:
Johns Hopkins
Katherine’s Krew (Med-IQ)
Endodocs (Maryland Endocrine, PA)
The sun was shining as walkers took to the sidewalks to enjoy views of Camden Yards and the InnerHarbor on our 5K route around downtown Baltimore.
Thank you to all of the walkers, sponsors and volunteers who made the event such a success!
