Rosedale Federal and Breakthrough T1D — Five Years of Extraordinary Partnership
Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan Association, one of the Baltimore region’s premier financial institutions, has been an important Breakthrough T1D Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter annual partner since 2012, donating more than $50,000 to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research and raising awareness about the disease. For the past five years, Rosedale Federal has been a proud sponsor of the Breakthrough T1D Baltimore One Walk, the Maryland Hope Gala, and the Breakthrough T1D Golf Classic at TPC Potomac. The events combined raised over $5 million in support of Breakthrough T1D’s mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications.
Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan Association is a locally-run, mutual bank that has been serving Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Harford County for more than a century. In 2016, the bank donated nearly $350,000 to numerous area organizations and causes, and its employees donated nearly 500 hours of volunteer work on their own time. Notably, Rosedale Federal further expanded its Breakthrough T1D partnership by creating an employee walk team at the last four Baltimore One Walks. In fact, at the walk on Mother’s Day this weekend, Rosedale Federal will be prominently recognized as our Entertainment Sponsor.
Kevin M. Benson, Rosedale Federal’s President and CEO, commented on the bank’s long-standing relationship with Breakthrough T1D. “For many years, we have sponsored Breakthrough T1D’s fundraising programs, and our employees participated in annual Breakthrough T1D events. We are so proud to support ground-breaking research that improves lives and ultimately cures this disease that has affected many families in our community.”
“We are extremely grateful to Rosedale Federal for their partnership and leadership in our community,” said Bill Parsons, Executive Director for Breakthrough T1D’s Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter. “With their continuing generosity, we are driving a game-changing research agenda that will move us ever closer to our shared vision of a World Without Type 1 Diabetes.”
