May 2018 Recap

May flew by here at Breakthrough T1D Hampton Roads- Here are some highlights:

Staff News

We welcomed a new staff member, Laurie, to our team this month! Laurie is our Administrative Assistant, so you will hear her cheerful voice when you call the office. Welcome Laurie!

National Nurses Week

#NationalNursesWeek and #NationalSchoolNurseDay were both held in May. For many people living with type 1  nurses are amazing resources, shoulders to lean on, and much-needed guides through all of the calculations, finger pricks, and more. Thank you to each and every nurse – on care teams, at school, at camp and more – who support those living with T1D.

Movie Night at Waterside

We had TONS of fun at the Waterside District Movie night watching COCO! We loved hanging out with you.

Rock the Pod!

This past November, MyOmnipod held a #RockthePod challenge where they raised over $40,000 to support 28 local diabetes charities including US! We are so thankful for their generous support. Last week Hunter, our local rep, stopped by to present us with the donation check. Thanks, Hunter, for stopping by and rocking out with us- we are so thankful for YOU!

Charles Schwab Volunteers

May 21-25 was Charles Schwab’s 15th Annual Volunteer Week so our local Schwab Office volunteered with us! We are so thankful for the positive impact they had on our office and look forward to working with them more in the future. #Schwab4Good

Staff Appreciation

The last week in May was  Staff appreciation week across JDRF and we are so thankful to work for an organization that wants to not only celebrate our success, but also celebrate each and every staff member that makes it happen! Wednesday was “Wellness Day” so we did a little Pilates in the office before taking on the day.
