Horizon Bank Partner Spotlight – Breakthrough T1D One Walk
in Awareness, Fundraising, General
Breakthrough T1D is proud to partner with Horizon Bank. As a committed friend to Breakthrough T1D for more than 15 years, Horizon Bank leads their community by example.
They are making a real and tangible impact on people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) by not only donating to Breakthrough T1D but encouraging their employees and community members to do the same. And, they create a fun and engaging experience for their employees through their Breakthrough T1D One Walk team! But their impact doesn’t end with their financial support and fundraising, the team at Horizon Bank also works to raise awareness about what it means to live with T1D.
Breakthrough T1D Development Manager, Chris Dunn, recently had at the chance to visit with Horizon Bank Walk Team Captain, Jen Wilson, to ask her about their commitment to the T1D community and Breakthrough T1D One Walk.
Chris: Why does Horizon Bank participate in Breakthrough T1D One Walk?
Jen: Horizon Bank actively participates in Breakthrough T1D One Walk to support our employees who have loved ones that are affected by T1D. Several employees have children, spouses, and other family members living with T1D.
Chris: What is your favorite Walk memory?
Jen: We have so many to choose from! Seeing the groups of teams in their t-shirts supporting their team & loved ones is truly inspiring.
Chris: How does participation in Breakthrough T1D One Walk serve as an opportunity to engage your employees?
Jen: Employees can ask family, friends, & customers to support them in fundraising for T1D. Having fun activities has been our goal over the years & we refer to them as FUNdraising events.
Chris: Anything else you want to share?
Jen: We are thankful for being able to support an organization that helps families when their worlds seem to be turning upside down when the diagnosis is first given. This walk helps spread awareness, education & support to those families. They feel the love & see that they are not alone in their fight to cure T1D.
