How to Support Your Loved One Through Distress & Depression

In conjunction with the Coping with Distress and Depression break-out session being offered at this year’s TypeOneNation Summit, we are offering the opportunity to learn How to Support Your Loved One Through Distress & Depression.

This breakout session will be led by Anat Joseph, LCSW, PsyA and Karen Lewis, LCSW.

Anat Joseph, LCSW, PsyA

Anat graduated from New York University and is a Clinical Social worker and certified Psychoanalyst. She is a faculty member and training analyst for the Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies in New Jersey and a NJ Certified Clinical Supervisor.

Anat’s practice is located in the heart of Teaneck NJ. She works with adults, adolescents and children, struggling with issues of anxiety, depression and trauma. She has extensive experience working with the challenges, complexities and stress that chronic illnesses like T1D bring to life and the family.

With her broad skills and knowledge, Anat brings warmth and clarity to the process in working with her clients. Together they work to better understand and develop necessary tools to achieve the quality of life they desire.

Karen Lewis, LCSW

Karen Lewis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a graduate of New York University and the New Jersey Institute for Training in Psychoanalysis. She is in private practice in Teaneck, NJ and is committed to the well being of her clients.

Karen specializes in working with the parents of children with special needs. Her clients include, but are not limited to, parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Downs Syndrome. She provides individual and couples counseling and helps parents feel less isolated and alone. She supports the needs of the family, and works collaboratively with other professionals.

She believes parents of children with disabilities need help coping, strengthening their relationships, and learning how to take better care of themselves. She utilizes an eclectic approach to accommodate the needs of each client.
