ON June 16, the Central Florida Chapter had the pleasure of sending our Executive Director, Martin Bernstine, Board President,Dorea Mays, and Breakthrough T1D International Board Member, Jerry Wisler to the Breakthrough T1D One Conference in Washington, D.C. While Breakthrough T1D is committed to research, we are also committed to advocacy. Throughout the week more than 250 meetings took place on Capitol Hill where Congress members met with Breakthrough T1D representatives.
Our three Central FL representatives also had the opportunity to meet with other chapter staff and volunteers from across Florida. During their time in Washington, D.C. they attended meetings with top legislative aide’s from both Senators Nelson and Rubio. On the House side, they met with the legislative Director from Representatives Daniel Webster and Mica.
The conference and meetings focused on supporting Breakthrough T1D’s efforts to continue funding for T1D Research and the Medicare coverage for CGM’s. To find out more about Breakthrough T1D’s mission and advocacy efforts please visit jdrf.org.
