As the news about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to lead global headlines, we want to share timely information with our Breakthrough T1D Ride community about the upcoming Breakthrough T1D Ride season.

While we continue to plan for the 2020 Ride season and at this time do not have plans to postpone Rides, we are continuing to monitor the situation and will communicate regularly as new information becomes available. So that we can be well-prepared for the upcoming Ride events later this year, here a few things to know:

  • Travel coordination is currently on hold to allow us time to continue monitoring the situation.
  • In accordance with Breakthrough T1D’s organizational guidelines, we are pausing Breakthrough T1D-supported training rides through June 30. We encourage you to continue working with your local Breakthrough T1D Ride Coach to best prepare for your event.
  • Remember that a little physical activity (and fresh air) can help with overall mood and immune health! Just be sure to do so in a safe, smart and healthy way. If you choose to spin or ride on your own or with friends, we encourage you to do so with the group’s health in mind: practice social distancing, good hygiene, and definitely do not do so if you are feeling ill or if you’ve recently been around anyone who is ill.
  • Regardless of how you choose to train, we encourage you to stay connected to your Breakthrough T1D Ride family! Be on the lookout for more information and resources on staying virtually connected with the T1D cycling community.
  • Don’t have a local coach? Reach out to us at ride@BreakthroughT1D.org if you would like any coaching or training support.

In the meantime, we will keep you updated as the situation further develops. We as a community rise to challenges, and there is no better time than now to show that we are truly stronger together. Stay smart. Stay safe. Stay healthy. And we look forward to seeing you soon.
