Breakthrough T1D Advocates Schedule Record Number of Meetings with the 2011-12 Promise to Remember Me Campaign

in

The 2011-12 Promise to Remember Me Campaign concluded on May 1, 2012, and a record number of meetings with Members of Congress. Over a nine-month period, Breakthrough T1D advocates and campaign coordinators across the country worked to schedule in-district meetings with their legislators to discuss type 1 diabetes issues. There are still meetings happening in your area so contact the Greater Dallas Chapter to see how you can get involved.

The total of 458 meetings represents over 85% of federal legislators, and reaching this milestone is a testament to the hard work of Breakthrough T1D volunteers and staff across the country. By reaching this total, we surpassed our initial campaign goal by 26 meetings. To view summaries of meetings that have already occurred, click here.

To participate in the Promise Story Contest, head over to the contest page to check out some of the submitted stories and vote for you favorites. Be sure to check out the contest rules, and send us an email at advocacy@BreakthroughT1D.org if you have any questions.

Thank you to all Breakthrough T1D advocates for their hard work and perseverance throughout the 2011-12 Promise Campaign!

About the Promise Campaign:

JDRF’s reputation as one of the most effective advocacy organizations in Washington is a direct result of the relationships our advocates around the country have developed with their Members of Congress.

The Promise Campaign, which began in 2000, is all about building these relationships. Each Campaign has been more successful than the last. In 2011-12, our goal was to again raise our visibility, reach, and effectiveness in an attempt to top the 431 meetings we completed during the last Campaign.
