Here is a little bit about Lily McCook, written by her father Clayton, and her reason for fundraising in the Breakthrough T1D One Walk Oklahoma City this year: “Elizabeth “Lily” McCook is a kind, gentle, and wonderful 8 year-old. She loves horses more than anything in the world, as well as dogs and all animals. She loves spending time outside and going on walks, and loves going to work with her dad, an equine veterinarian, at the various racetracks he practices. She is also a voracious reader and enjoys spending time with her mom and sister doing crafts, going to the library, and doing fun activities. Since Lily’s diagnosis in 2012, Breakthrough T1D has been there for the McCook Family. From receiving the Bag of Hope, to our family’s first walk and the formation of our own team, Loping with Lily, Breakthrough T1D has played a big role in our lives. We walk to support the research that will hopefully one day lead to a cure, freeing Lily from having to check and monitor her blood sugar constantly. We also walk to support Breakthrough T1D’s mission of improving the lives of those with T1D and their families, including the important work of outreach and advocacy. We are grateful for all that Breakthrough T1D does for the T1D community and look forward to seeing everyone at the One Walk in September!” – Clayton McCook, Lily’s father.
