As we say goodbye to 2024 and all the wonderful things that came with it, we look forward to 2025 at the Western and Central PA Chapter of Breakthrough T1D! THANK YOU for your support of Breakthrough T1D!

We wanted to give a sneak peek of what’s to come at our chapter in the first half of 2025.

January 11^th – York, PA

Hoops for Heroes- More Information

Join us at York College for Hoops for Heroes, a fun night dedicated to T1Ds!

2:00PM – Meetup for T1D children, T1D adults and their families – Includes fun activities and pre-game networking!

3:00PM – Game start: Tickets are purchased at the door. All money collected for attendance will be donated to Breakthrough T1D

Halftime – Coach Hunter’s daughter will share information about T1D and what it’s like living with T1D, Breakthrough T1D, and recognize the other T1D heroes in attendance!

February 1^st – Hershey, PA

Breakthrough T1D Night at the Hershey Bears Game- More Information

Join us for the 4th Annual T1D Family Day at the Hershey Bears Hockey Game! Friends, families, and fellow T1D’s are welcome. Be sure to wear Breakthrough T1D Blue along with your Hershey Bears Attire! Tickets are now available, and a portion of the proceeds go back to Breakthrough T1D if purchased through our Link below.

February 1st-Lancaster

Kids Created Art Project-More Information

Participants will create a piece of art in the style of famous local T1D artist Charles Demuth for auction at the Central PA Gala on May 17^th.  Attendees can also tour the museum and learn more about the artist who was one of the very first people in the United States to receive insulin.  Space is limited and attendance is FREE, so register today! RSVP is required to attend.

February 2^nd – Pittsburgh, PA

T1D Free Skate Party–More Information

Join the Pittsburgh Penguins foundation for a FREE ice-skating party! This hour of fun is dedicated to connecting the T1D community! Rental skates will be available at no cost. Pre-Registration is required to attend

March Community Summits

The Breakthrough T1D Community Summit is an educational and networking opportunity for all those impacted by type 1 diabetes (T1D). This year, the Breakthrough T1D Community Summit will bring our community together to learn from T1D experts, hear about the latest breakthroughs in T1D research, meet vendor exhibitors, connect with others impacted by T1D, and more.

Pittsburgh Gala- More Information

This year marks the 33rd Anniversary of the Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) Promise Gala as one of the longest running & most successful fundraising events in our community. Promise Gala is attended by top corporate leaders from the region and provides powerful networking opportunities. On this exciting night in April, we will adopt a mindset of relaxation, adventure, and joy in the midst of discovering and understanding the everyday struggles of T1D.  Break through … and join us for a tropical affair!

May 4rd & 4th-Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Marathon-More Information

Lace up your sneakers and join us the first weekend in May for one of Pittsburgh’s most exciting events! With options like the marathon, half marathon, relay marathon, 5K, kids marathon, charity 1 mile, toddler trot, and pet walk, there’s something for everyone. When you register, simply choose to “Run for Charity” and select Breakthrough T1D as your cause. You’ll receive your own fundraising webpage to share your T1D story and collect donations to support our mission.

Central PA Gala- More Information

The Breakthrough T1D Central PA Gala brings prominent philanthropic corporate and community leaders throughout the region together for an incredible occasion benefitting Breakthrough T1D in the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D). We invite you to join us for a festive night of entertainment featuring a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, dinner, and dancing. Step right up to “The Marvelous Midway!“, where every spin and every win brings us closer to the ultimate prize: a future free from T1D!

We are so excited to announce our second ever T1D Friends & Family Picnics in Western PA, Central PA, and West Virginia. We will have activities, prizes, and chances for you to connect. July 22^nd – Churchill, PA

Pittsburgh Summer Golf Classic- More Information

Join us for a spirited day out at the fourteenth annual Summer Golf Classic at its new location, Edgewood Country Club in Churchill, PA. You can sponsor the event or register your foursome now. Whether you sponsor, play a round, or unfortunately can’t join us, please consider making a Fund A Cure contribution, that will directly drive research toward therapies to improve lives right now and will, one day, lead to a cure.
